Ring in the New Year with outdoor-themed fun

By Tyler Frantz

Happy New Year to one and all! With 2016 now a mere memory, it’s time to look forward to fresh beginnings in 2017. The New Year is certain to bring its own fair share of outdoor-themed opportunities to be enjoyed by sportsmen and women both young and old.

Beyond late-season flintlocking, small game brush busting, waterfowling for migrators, and maybe even a little ice fishing, there’s plenty to do throughout the winter months. And with so many great events happening locally, I wanted to highlight just a few that will surely help satisfy our cravings for the outdoors in weeks to come.

There’s nearly something for everyone among the detailed list that follows, and I might even see you at a few of these events myself. They are just too good to pass up! Here’s wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
