Mega Man Battle Network (Part III)
Good day to you. In part 3 of our journey, we've got some things to collect.
Among these books in the classroom right beside your own, you will find the Spreader J chip. You can now make another Program Advance (Spreader Z) which lasts 5 seconds and does 40 Damage per hit. In the nurse's room there is a girl who will trade you a ShotGun K chip if you give her three Invis1 I chips, and she'll also give you a clue about the Z-Canon Program Advance. Not that we need it.
On your way out of the school, be sure to infiltrate this car's computer for yet another HPMemory.
Also, this is Yai's house. We could have gone here earlier when we went to Dex and Mayl's houses but... well, I forgot actually. So let's do that now.
You can jack into this telephone to get 1000 Zennys as well as an Escape J chip.
There is also a boy in the northwest corner of town who will trade you the powerful DynaWaveR chip for a FireTower F, which you may have got from the round black virus in the oven area. Just one more thing to do before we head off to the Metroline, and for it you need to go home to your computer and get on the net.
Alright, so at certain points you will find the "ghosts" of operator Navis which you have defeated throughout the course of the story. The V2 Navis will always appear in a specific location - however the V3 Navis are typically found as a random encounter in a broader area. This location marks the first one of the game - Fire Man. He's the same as before except with 100 more HP.
Obviously not much of a problem. This chip does 100 damage (fire elemental, naturally) to one horizontal row. And for those new to the series - all Navi chips have a "time stop" effect, so during the attack, all enemies remain exactly where they were when you activated the chip. This makes these chips incredibly useful.
Note that since we've defeated Fire Man V2, Fire Man V3 will appear randomly throughout Area 1 of the net. You can look for him and try to get his V2 and V3 chips if you wish. I actually found him on my way to the merchant (lucky, I guess?) but he gave me 1500Z instead of a chip. Silly Navi, I've got quite enough money for now thank you!
Speaking of the merchant though, you may want to buy any PowerUps you haven't got yet (the merchant in this area only has 2 available). I didn't bother with any more HPmemories, I have 220 HP at the moment and haven't come close to dying at all so far (watch me eat my words later on).
Anyway, when your business is done on the net, head to the metro station. It shouldn't be hard to find, it's right next to Dex's house and also the only other building you can enter in town.
However when you get there, it turns out the train isn't running! Seems there has been a landslide.
On the internet.
Naturally, we are going to go find the cause and shoot it in the face. But first we have to go see Dex. And shoot him in the face. No, just kidding. Mostly.
Jack into his computer and use the warp point on his home page to try to get into Area 2 of the net which naturally, you can't. Because Dex has the password for some strange reason. Talk to him and he will first demand that you give him a Recover50 L chip and then still afterwards battle him for the password. Jeez, not very concerned about that train now is he?
If you fought Guts Man before then you'll likely be relieved to know that, like Fire Man, he's much the same as before, just with 400 HP this time around. Provided you win, you will receive the GutsMan G chip, which does 40 damage to the enemy's entire area as well as cracking all of the tiles. Quite nice.
Now, back to the net! Area 2 is a bit more confusing than Area 1, with a couple tough new enemies (mostly sword types, do not stay in the same horizontal row as them for long!). Eventually you will come across a big red and white brick-lookin guy. This is a boss (you'll probably glimpse him long before you step into the "initiate battle" zone, so you'll have your chance to save).
Rock Fall: Three boulders will fall from the sky. They will cast shadows on the blocks they will land on.
Summon Block: Summons a stone cube into your area. Doesn't damage you and can be broken. Limits your movement.
Laser Statue: Conjures up a small statue that will fire a large laser all across 1 horizontal row.
Fun Fact: I AM REALLY BAD AT THIS GUY! I get too anxious when I see the boulders are about to fall and half the time move from a safe spot right into their path. *sigh* But at least the level doesn't matter this time around.
