DIY Fly Fishing Patagonia: Float-Walk-Camp...The best of the best
How to search this blog for helpful information? Use the blog search engine and type in key words such as Float Trip, Walk-Wade, Float Tube, Lessons, Pesos, Fy Rods, Flies, Best Months, etc. The search engine is located on the right side, just below the weather. FYI, there are over 100 post about fishing Patagonia... the information you are looking for, is probably on this blog. Thanks.
Sorry to bore you with another post about a Patagonia fly fishing trip. I continue to post about clients experiences because I believe the information shared may help you understand:
David and Linda Richards were born and raised in England. Just over two decades ago, for professional reasons, they immigrated to the USA. David was in the automotive software business and Linda was a CFO. They lived near Detroit for many years, but currently, Hilton Head Island is home. On the island, they own two gift shops, directly below the lighthouse...the one you see on TV, as they broadcast the PGA Heritage Classic Golf Tournament. Stop in and say hola or hello.

Sorry to bore you with another post about a Patagonia fly fishing trip. I continue to post about clients experiences because I believe the information shared may help you understand:
- More about First Cast Fly Fishing and what we do in Junin de los Andes, Argentina.
- What to expect on your next visit to Argentina.
- Give you new ideas about non-fishing activities.

David and Linda's Itinerary:
- Before arriving in Patagonia, they took my advice and stayed in Buenos Aires. Specifically, they stayed 3 days in Palermo. The highlight of their Palermo stay was the tour of the Teatro Colon.

- To get ball rolling, they started out with two days of active DIY walk-wade guiding. Even if you are an accomplished angler, we recommend at least 2-3 days of active DIY walk-wade guiding. Why? We quickly plug you into the best and safest spots. We also coach you on specific techniques that will increase your chances of catching fish.
On their first day, both caught +/- 40 fish. No world records, but steady action! |
With temps close to 90 degrees, repeating day one was next to impossible. But, we managed to get into some very healthy, hard fighting fish. |
- After a day off, they were ready for a 2 day float, with overnight camping. We offer this service on the lower Chimehuin. I believe the lower Chimehuin is the best of the best. I think they had a good time.
The lower Chimehuin is a Brown Trout Hatchery! |
Looks pretty good for canned chicken...just kidding! On our camping trips, you'll be fed well and you can drink all the Malbec you want. |
- The last two days were spent on their own. The singed-up for our non-active DIY walk-wade program. Per their request, we brought them to the spots they fished on the first two days. Once again, each of them had a +/- 40 fish day.
- They flew back to BsAs and spent 2.5 days touring the city.
A great way to end a great fishing vacation. |
Costs
There are 7 lodges in the Junin de los Andes area. The price per person, ranges from $3,200 to $7,000 USD per week (6 days of fishing). For 6 days of fishing with FCFF, including walk-wade, float, and camp, the final bill for David and Linda was below $3,000 USD! That's ONLY $1,500 USD per person, for 6 days of fishing.

Final Word
David seemed like a straight shooter. In other words, if I asked him an honest question, he would reply with an honest answer. So, upon leaving us, I asked David if our blog info was accurate and truthful. He said, "the info on your blog could not be more honest and accurate; your welcome brochure was filled with helpful tips and details; your prices are incredibly fair; we got what we paid for and we are very-very happy."
Thanks for reading and hope to see you in Patagonia.
