Bujuk Hunt at Kuala Selangor

Recently I joined up with a bunch of hardcore fishos to do Snakehead fishing in the peat swamps of Sekinchan, Kuala Selangor. Our target fish is the Jungle Snakehead (Channa Lucious), locally known as Bujuk. We started fishing very early, gathering at friend's place at 5 AM morning, we headed to nearby Ijok town for breakfast & proceeded to Sekinchan canals without further delays.

Arriving just at dawn.

Setting up & launching the boats.

Off we went into the canals to explore.

Arriving at the first spot, we transfer the boats over to the smaller canal.

Beautiful still water, black canals. Places were Bujuks love to nest in.

Two hours later, we moved to another place. A smaller stagnant stream.

Water here is even more stagnant than the earlier place but good chance to catch Bujuk.

Some of the more experienced anglers caught 3 Bujuks that day.

Fishing that day was tough & slow. I had a few strikes but fail to hook up. I was probably using oversized soft plastic baits with wrongly matched hooks. Since this is my first time fishing for Bujuk, I still have much to learn. The bait that had the most strikes was the Berkley Powerbait Twin tail & Tube designs texas rigged. Will be back for a follow up trip in future when opportunity comes. I have to admit, I had a lot of FUN!!!

The Bujuk fishos, minus the cameraman & blog author.
