June 13 Joint Conservation Committee Hearing On Act 101, Recycling To Be Webcast
The Joint Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on June 13 to review the Act 101 Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act Programs.
It has been 29 years since Act 101 was enacting and the recycling and planning programs have been working nearly unchanged since then.
The Committee and several legislators, including Rep. John Maher (R-Allegheny), Majority Chair of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, have said it’s time to take a look at updating Act 101.
The Committee will hear comments from--
-- George Hartenstein, Acting DEP Deputy For Waste, Air, Radiation and Remediation;
-- Barbara Baker, Professional Recyclers of PA;
-- Tim O’Donnell, PA Waste Industries Association;
-- Richard Bapst, PA Independent Waste Haulers;
-- Elam Herr, PA Association of Township Supervisors;
-- Lisa Schaefer, County Commissioners Association; and
-- Bob Bylone, PA Recycling Markets Center.
