Frantz receives two national awards from OWAA 

DULUTH, Minn. – Natural Pursuit Outdoors founder Tyler Frantz was among the Excellence in Craft Awards winners announced during the Outdoor Writers Association of America’s 90^th annual conference held June 24-26 in Duluth, Minnesota.

First, second and third place winners in nine contests received prize money, plaques and certificates for their distinguished work in a diverse field of outdoor media professionals.

Frantz claimed first place in the Newspaper Contest’s Gear/Technical Category for his article “Maple syrup season has arrived,” which was published in Lebanon Daily News on February 28, 2016.

He also landed a second place award for the Blog Contest’s Hunting or Shooting Sports Category, sponsored by the National Rifle Association. “How to do a Grid Search to Recover your Deer,” which posted on September 5^th, 2016 on Bowhunting.com, was the winning entry. Coincidentally, the same blog post also received second place honors for Best Blog from the Mason-Dixon OutdoorWriters Association earlier this year.

This honor caps a remarkable 2017 with exactly 10 awards for Frantz, who earned one 2^nd place and four 1^st place awards from the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association, a 2^nd and 1^st  apiece from both M-DOWA and OWAA, as well as a 3^rd place finish in the Schuylkill Conservation District’s Outdoors Photo Contest.

Frantz has been a freelance outdoor writer/photographer since 2012, when he launched Natural Pursuit Outdoors to pursue communicating his passion for hunting, fishing and conservation. Since then, he has been published hundreds of times in local, state, and national publications and has established a Youtube channel featuring nearly 40 original videos showcasing his natural love for the outdoors.

A full-time public school teacher by trade, Frantz resides in Annville, Pennsylvania on a 3.5- acre hobby farm with his wife Erin, son Foster and bird dog Cali.
