House Republican Policy Committee Holds Aug. 23 Hearing On Challenges Facing Conventional Drilling Industry
The House Republican Policy Committee will hold a hearing August 23 to discuss the differences between conventional natural gas wells and unconventional shale gas wells in anticipation of the state’s new forthcoming Chapter 78 regulations.
The hearing will also include a discussion on the pipeline construction needed to bring natural gas to power plants in order for the energy generation sector to meet new EPA air quality regulations and the obstacles currently blocking that endeavor.
Testifiers will include representatives from the Marcellus Shale Coalition, TransCanada/Columbia Midstream, MDS Energy Development LLC and Snyder Brothers Inc.
Rep. Jeff Pyle (R-Armstrong), an outspoken opponent of the update to DEP’s Chapter 78 drilling regulations, is hosting the hearing.
The hearing will be held at the Henshaw Farms Banquet Facility, 314 City Road, Freeport, Armstrong County,starting at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The hearing is also scheduled to be webcast at the House Republican Caucus website.
