Chesapeake Bay Commission Meets In Lancaster Sept. 8-9

The interstate Chesapeake Bay Commission will hold its quarterly meeting in Lancaster on September 8 and 9 at the Lancaster Marriott Penn Square.

The agenda for the meeting includes--

-- Midpoint Assessment and Phase III Watershed Implementation Plans;

-- Progress and Refined Allocations;

-- Conowingo Dam;

-- Phosphorus: An Elusive Goal; Chesapeake Bay 201: Phosphorus, Minimizing Phosphorus Loss;

-- Manure Transport: Optimizing Local Use;

-- Legacy Sediments: The Stream As Pollution Source;

-- Field Tour: Strasburg Plain Sect Farm, Kirchner Farm Gypsy Hill Road; and

-- Conservation Innovation: Aviation Biofuel.

Pennsylvania is represented on the Commission by Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming), who serves as Vice-Chair, Sen. Richard Alloway (R-Adams), Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-York), Rep. Michael Sturla (D-Lancaster), Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming), Majority Chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, and Acting DEP Secretary Patrick McDonnell.
