Updated: House Environmental Committee Meets To Consider Letter On DEP Drilling Regs. Wednesday
The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee agenda for its March 16 meeting includes "correspondence to the Independent Regulatory Review Commission" on final DEP’s final Chapter 78 drilling regulations.
Rep. John Maher (R-Allegheny), Majority Chair of the Committee, has been critical of the process DEP used to develop the regulations and voted against the regulations when they came before the Environmental Quality Board in February.
The agenda also includes bills making changes to the administration of the Underground Storage Tank Indemnification Fund and the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin--

-- House Bill 577 (Moul-R-Adams) authorizing designees with proxy voting rights for certain members of Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin (sponsor summary); and
-- House Bill 1895 (Metzgar-R-Bedford) changing the members of the Underground Storage Tank Indemnification Board (sponsor summary). (The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee reported out similar legislation Tuesday-- Senate Bill 1142 (Yaw-R-Lycoming).)
The meeting will be held in Room B-31 Main Capital starting at 9:30.
