Arming Yourself With Facts
Just before the election of 2012, firearm sales increasedbecause many Americans feared a massive ban would occur. Sales boosted again, along with ammunition that caused a depletion in the manufacturer's ability to meet the demand of both the government and increased civilian sales, after the push for more draconian gun control in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre. Much of that caused by the misinformation of the media.
According to the Washington Times:
The American firearms industry is as healthy as ever, seeing an unprecedented surge that has sent production of guns soaring to more than 10.8 million manufactured in 2013 alone — double the total of just three years earlier.… Indeed, interest in guns appears to be at an all-time high in California, which shattered its previous record for gun-purchase background checks last month, with nearly 200,000 processed, suggesting a vibrant firearms market in the country’s largest state. The California part is surprising with all of its regulations, bans and suppression of Second Amendment rights.
So the only folks who are thanking President Obama for his progressive move to keep firearms out of the hands of civilians (despite his campaign promise in 2008 that he would not) are the firearm manufacturers and ammo industry.
The following video is from National Shooting Sports Foundation …
The video demonstrates that people are still not aware that the Second Amendment rights and people exercising them decreases crime.
It is important that firearm safety be stressed upon and that children be taught about them and safety.
I learned about firearms elsewhere, mostly in the military and a gunsmith course because my father would not allow firearms in the house and refused to own one, despite finding pictures from his days in the Navy with firearms that include a Thompson submachinegun. As a parent, it is best that they teach children about firearms as the video above stresses. The NRA stresses firearm safety and responsibility, despite the lies spewed by the media - it always has. Once upon a time, high schools offered after-school curriculum gun clubs and shooting sport events - all under responsible adult supervision. No injuries or deaths occurred. Mass shootings has occurred today when it was nonexistent when I was young. It is not the firearms but the change in society and the melt down of the family nucleus and values that is at fault - the latter promoted by the progressives who took over our government.
Firearms have changed in terms of design, but our youth is less educated today about firearms and safety handling them than yesteryear.
The problem of youth getting the wrong ideas about firearms is not because of the firearms, but the attitude and mentality of society, the hypocrisy of Hollywood, and the agenda of progressive socialists removing moral factors from what is left of family values.
The Second Amendment was created for a reason and provides liberty of self-defense and becoming part of a citizen militia to protect the Constitution and the United States from external and internal enemies. However, it does not require that people own or use firearms against their will, and it does not give those anti-firearm folks the right to keep firearms from those who want them.
