In the News: Great Basin Rifle Found and Are You Ready?
Great Basin National Park, Nevada … Park officials found a Winchester Model 1873 manufactured in 1882 leaning against a juniper tree. Judging by the weather-worn condition, it had been there a very long time. The mystery is who left it there and why?
On the park's Facebook page, the rifle appears to have been exposed to sun, wind, snow, and rainand has a cracked wood stock, weathered to grey and the barrel has rusted to brown.
The rifle will be sent off to undergo treatment and preservation and then returned to the park for display as part of the Great Basin National Park 30th Birthdayand the National Park Service Centennial Celebration.
The serial number on the rifle is in the Winchester records at the Cody Firearms Museum in Cody, Wyoming, but any other detailed history about the rifle shipped from Winchester in 1882 is unknown so far. The rifle sold for $25 in 1882.
The Great Basin cultural resource staff is researching old newspapers and family histories to hope to discover who was the owner and why it was left leaning against a tree. Whoever owned it, the rifle is 132 years old.
The Seattle Times published an Associated Press report that Yemen al-Qaida, who promised more violence after their attack in Paris. Yemen is the scene of horrific acts of murder, like crucifixion. Live Leak covered the story and included a graphic video and I must warn you - it is GRAPHIC. Judging from the sound of conversation in the background, whoever was filming this horrific sight allowed a child to be present, who you can hear talking in the background. Allegedly the man was crucified for being a spy.
Nazi that committed such atrocities that we read about almost every day were judged in a tribunal for crimes against humanity. Today, it is rare for any who commit such atrocities to be punished, much less stand on trial before a tribunal. Free nations must stand up and say - No More! - and stamp out murderous genocidal maniacs who use religion for an excuse.
Concerned Americans fear that all of this is going to immigrate to the United States and have little faith in the federal government to ensure that it does not happen. Indeed, CAIR is still operating in the US, despite disclosuer of their ties to Islamic Jihadism; and it has been documented that there are Islamic training camps training to commit subversion and sabotage - still operating, even after video footage revealed what was going on. This is one of the reasons why the Founders insisted upon including an amendment that declared that the right to keep and bear arms will not be infringed.
The USCCA [US Concealed Carry Association] immediately launched a message asking, “Are You Ready?”

Examiner:
With more than 11 million Americans licensed to carry, and many more who openly carry without licenses in many states, starting an attack just might draw return fire from people who don’t care to be murdered by fanatics. States report increasing numbers of people applying for concealed carry permits and licenses. Gun sales remain strong. … Now is a good time to ask readers: Do you carry a firearm for personal protection, even at work, or is a firearm close by to allow immediate access in the case of an attack? Do you have an escape plan if you can’t carry at work? Do you have the following: cell phone, spare car keys, battery backup, First Aid supplies?
