Political Express: Senate Lumber Baron Part Of Loyalsock State Forest Heritage
Several strands of Pennsylvania’s environmental and economic history come together in the Loyalsock State Forest in Northeast Pennsylvania.
The exploitation of Penn’s Woods for building material and fuel during the 19th century to the point where forests were clear-cut as far as the eye could see, the regeneration of those forests starting more than a century ago with modern conservation practices and lately the development of the Marcellus Shale gas reserves as a new energy source are part of Loyalsock’s past and potential future.
