Longwall Mining Impact Report Removed From DEP Citizens Advisory Council Agenda
Proposed comments on DEP’s draft Act 54 longwall mining impact report will not be on the June 17 meeting agenda for the DEP Citizens Advisory Council. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. not the usual 10:00 a.m.
The Council will hear presentations on Chesapeake Bay milestones, agricultural best management practices and the regional agricultural watershed assessment program.
In the afternoon, Council members will also participate in a field tour of agricultural BMPs on a farm in Cumberland County hosted by Council member William Fink.
DEP also provided Council with a copy of its June activities report which includes these items of note--
-- DEP’s regulations increasing oil and gas well drilling permit fees are planned to be published as final in the June 14 PA Bulletin;
-- DEP expects its study of naturally occurring radiation in natural gas production, processing and distribution to be finalized in late 2014;
-- DEP is expecting to begin accepting applications June 14 for approximately $12.5 million in renewable and clean energy project funding through the PA Energy Development Authority;
-- DEP provided an update on pending legislation in the Senate and House as well as proposed and final regulations and petitions pending in DEP; and
-- States in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed are expected to sign an update on the Chesapeake Bay Agreement on June 16.
The meeting will be held in Room 105 Rachel Carson Building starting at 9:00.
