PHMC Accepting Applications For Historic Preservation Grants
The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is now accepting applications for federal Historic Preservation Certified Local Government Grants. The deadline for applications is February 14.
Approximately $115,000 will be awarded through a competitive selection process contingent on availability of federal funds.
PHMC is also accepting applications for the Keystone Historic Preservation Program funded by the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. Applications are due March 3.
The CLG program is a decentralized partnership among the National Park Service (NPS), states, and local governments. PHMC administers the grant program on behalf of the NPS.
Grants are available to support projects in the following categories: planning; design guidelines or design assistance; National Register nominations; cultural resource surveys; public education; training; revitalization and reuse studies and program administration. This reimbursement grant program requires a 50/50 match.
There are currently 44 Certified Local Governments in Pennsylvania. Projects undertaken between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015, are eligible.
Municipalities do not have to achieve CLG status by the time the grant application is due, but if awarded a grant, they must have achieved CLG status by the contract start date in order to receive funding.
Grant applicants will need to submit a completed application. For more information, visit PHMC’s Grants and Funding webpage.
