Air Kuning Peacock Bass

April, 2013

Made another trip there recently on a weekend. This time around, the dirt path in was even worse than the previous trip in 2011. Journey started off early at 4:30am. By the time when we arrived at fishing waters, it was just 8am, the perfect time for the whoppers to come out feeding. Unfortunately for this trip, all Peacock Bass caught were below the 1kg mark. Nonetheless it was a fun & adventurous trip. Lucky for us, we left the place at 5:30pm, because by 6pm, heavy rain started pouring the area & the dirt path which was already tough to go through would have been impassable even for 4x4.

The dirt path into AK lakes, we had to stop several times to assess & work out a plan to drive through those obstacles.

This is a typical pot hole on the dirt trail. My turn to attack it!

This is how my ride looks like after going through all the muddy tracks.

Surveying the landscape & finding the best spots to do our fishing.

So let the fishing begin. First PB landed. My partner for this trip, Mr Tham.

First fish. It was a morale booster after casting for 2 hours without connecting to a fish.

After catching several more specimens, we decided to go land based  which we manage to land another few more of this sizes. Estimate to be around 600 to 700g.

That's me with another PB. Although there were no whoppers that day, I wasn't complaining. We had fun all the way.
