Mega Man Battle Network I Extras (Part 1)
Hello, welcome to the extras for Mega Man Battle Network! Today I will be mucking about fighting the optional post-game navis.
MagicMan V2/V3
MagicMan isn't technically a "hidden" boss like the others in this section, but he is still only available after you've beaten the main game. His V2 is found in the area where you have to get few encounters to open the gate forward (there was also a WWW gate here with a PowerUp behind it). He is right near the entrance, on a little platform off to the left.
.
MagicMan V2/V3
800/900 HP
He has the same attacks as before, sending blue flames down a horizontal row or summoning viruses. He will always stay in one spot. The viruses he sends out are very annoying though, including AquaSword viruses that will use area steal, Invis3, and Cloudest.
This Egyptian-inspired navi is the first all-new optional boss you encounter. You'll find him in the section of the net I've been calling the "free run" area (the dead end past where you have to not run from any fights to open the gates forward). Unlike the navis from the main story, he only has two versions. He will not appear until after you have beaten the Life Virus and continue your file from the last save (there will be a star beside "continue"). You must also have installed enough HP/Power upgrades for MegaMan to be at level 70 or higher.
PharaohMan/V2
800/1000 HP
Sarcophagus Laser: A coffin will appear at the edge of his area and fire a laser across the horizontal row.
Stone Block: The coffin will toss a stone block to the back of your area, limiting your movement.
Plague Of Rats: The coffin unleashes several Ratton bombs into your area. If you are standing at the far-right edge of your area above of below the coffin (not right in front of it obviously) they seem to pass you by.
Pharaoh Trap: A stone button appears on one of the tiles in your area and activates one of three attacks when you step on it.
__a) Fire-element SnakeEggs will drop into your area (two of them)
__b) A black sarcophagus will drop into PharaohMan's area and unleash poison that will constantly and quickly drain you health (you can destroy this)
__c) Several spears will come flying in from the right side of the screen one at a time.
All in all he's not that difficult, I managed to get through him at least half a dozen times without taking any damage at all. He tries to clog up your area with blocks and his traps (as soon as one trap is activated or goes too long without being stepped on and breaks he will summon another one) but his attacks don't require much moving around to avoid in the first place.
Yep. You get four chips from this guy. Anubis is extremely useful, the rest are alright. I think it attacks all 3 rows like SharkMan's chip, and the V3 is 10 points more powerful. Whoopee.
ShadowMan
This guy only has two version, same as PharaohMan. This guy is in the second-last area of the net, before the huge square area. You have to get a Buster Rank of above 5 in all of your battles to open the gate forward here (though you've probably already done that by now). He will not appear unless you have collected 140 different kinds of battle chips.
ShadowMan/V2
800/1000 HP
Shuriken: The square beneath you will flash and he will throw three Shuriken in a row, simply move quickly at least three times.
Clone: He'll make three clones of himself, often the clones will block him from your shots.
Smoke Ball: ShadowMan and any clones on the field will send a shot rolling across a horizontal row. Usually the "real" one and one clone will both fire on the same row so there will be one safe row to stand in, but they did fire on all three rows when I was fighting him at least once.
.
Four chips again! Aren't these secret bosses generous? The Muramasa's range is only one tile ahead, but it deals damage equal to the amount of HP you have lost during the current battle. So obviously, it has its uses. Was it ever a pain to get, though. I think ShadowMan gave me the most trouble out of any navi in the game. His attacks aren't particularly difficult to dodge really, it's just that he teleports around so bloody much and his clones block him from attacks. Half of the time I was staring intently seeing if my attacks would actually hit him for once, and ended up getting a shuriken to the face. So try to be on your toes is what I'm getting at, I guess.
Bass
This is the final of the secret bosses. You find him as a random encounter in the very last area of the internet, and you must have a complete chip library (174) and be at least level 70. And of course, you must be playing on a file that is continued after having defeated the Life Virus.
Bass
1000 Hp
Straight Shot: He will fire a single shot down one horizontal row.
Gattling Shot: He will fire rapidly up and down all rows and back again.
Drop Shot: Between 4-6 tiles will flash and he will fire onto all four at once.
Swarm Shot: He will fire rapidly up and down the rows and you will have to quickly dodge up and down to safe squares.
Hoo boy. This guy is a great big pile of fun. Bass comes equipped with a LifeAura barrier, which needs to be dealt 100 damage to be broken. He will also constantly repair it. I didn't find him extremely difficult but I also got very lucky.
No it's not an S rank, but hey. Seeing as how I'm not too great at this game to begin with, I'll take an 8. As long as I still got the chip. I was going to show of some Program Advances and such (hence why it says 'extras part 1') but I've run out of steam on this game again so... maybe in another year or so.
