I was too busy celebrating Chinese New Year but still managed to squeeze a few hours during the 3rd day of CNY for a short Snakehead session in Gopeng, Perak. What better way to celebrate & welcome the year of the Snake then to go find some Snakeheads!? :P
Here's a few photos of the Striped Snakeheads that I caught.

First fish of the morning. This one grab my bait so aggressively I didn't had to strike it. Must be a hungry one. |
The second fish was more interesting. It took my bait but didn't run off like the earlier one. Using braided line & graphite rod, I could tell there was a take & I instinctively yank the rod to set the hook. This one did a somersault jump before being landed. |
I change to another spot after the first 2 fish & immediately a cheroot took the bait. These small Haruans are still young & inexperience. |
This is the one that made my day. It took my bait like the classic Snakehead attack pattern. Casting into shallow banks, it did a Torpedo lunge & a huge explosion of water erupted followed by repeated jumps in the water to try jump the hook. |

Lazy fish. It didn't even fight a little compared to the earlier cheroot. Probably a sick fish. |
