Kolam Memancing Seksyen 24

Tucked in the heart of Shah Alam's industrial estate is an interesting paypond call "Kolam Memancing Seksyen 24", formerly known as "Kolam Warga Emas". This is a well known paypond among the Patin & Rohu coarse fishing anglers in the Klang Valley. The pond is well stocked with fishes as the operator replenish fishes on a weekly basis. In fact they have their own blog too.

The place attracts anglers day & night, the pond is never quiet even during the afternoons. In fact, the fishes there is never quiet too as you'll see continuous rises from fishes big & small, the amount of activity there is so addictive, it's difficult for a die hard angler not to fish there. The place is relatively clean, comfortable & well maintained. There are plenty of huts around with plenty of chairs & benches around. Rubbish collection is done on a regular basis with trash bins for each hut.

The operator mainly stock 5 species of fishes. They are:

  • Iridescent Sharks (Ikan Patin)
  • Giant Mekong Catfish (Ikan Mekong)
  • Big Head Carp (Ikan Tongsan)
  • Pacu
  • Indian Carps (Ikan Rohu)

Update: 10th Sep 2013
The list of fishes now includes.

  • Giant Snakeheads (Toman)
  • Arapaima Gigas
  • Alligator Gar

Latest update, 04/01/2013: Fishing fees is RM 30 for 10 hours of fishing for 1 rod. There are no complicated rules here with regards to style or technique of fishing. Basically anything goes but the anglers here follows a self regulation of keeping to only 2 or 3 hooks at most & not overly burleying their spot. The only rule here is fishes above 2kg must be released. What I like about fishing here is, the operator hires pond assistants to help anglers with anything from helping to buy tackles, food & drinks, tying rigs & landing/releasing fishes. Local knowledge is always best.

Waters here is murky & non-moving so the choice of baits is usually something strong flavoring to attract the fishes & stimulate their appetite. Popular baits includes syrup cut bread, groundbait (dedak) & pellets. For bottom fishing, it is best to use a method feeder rig, or, locally known as bomb. Regards to the number of hooks employed, it's up to you. Most anglers here settle with 2 or 4 hooks at most.

The operator also supplies tackles & baits at reasonable prices. There is a restaurant there serving scrumptious Malay cuisine with reasonable prices.
