Sukida Resort

I decided to do a Sunday 1/2 day session to check out Sukida Resort at Hulu Langat. The place is another 10km from Fish Valley. I Arrived at about 8am. Place is serene & peaceful (Yea, had to pass through so many memorial parks, eg. Nirvana, so many R.I.P.) off course it's peaceful. Anyway, back to the living ones who enjoys catching fish. Paid RM 10 / 1 rod for a day pass. Parking was rather limited today as there was another company event being held at the resort so many non-anglers were using up the space.

I took about 10mins to walk about the park, they had 4 ponds there, but most fishing is done on the main pond. Saw 3 other groups there that had been camping the night before. YES, Sukida Resort allows camping. Just bring your own tents. Camping fees another RM 10. I finally settled down on a nice spot & promptly set up my tackles & prepare the bait. Unfortunately, the water here is relatively quiet. There were some rises every few mins or so but generally, things here is quiet, even the fishes.

I was hoping I could use my magic from EAK to do the same here but turns out, the Pacu & Patin here are not so well trained in 'customer service'. I had some faint line pulls, probably from small fishes but nothing that would get me excited. My baits keep getting stolen by small fishes as not more than 15mins after placing my bait, it will all be gone. Feeling a little kiasu, I thought to myself, OK! No quality never mind, quantity also can lar. After reading reports of sizable Pacu that had been caught here, I was hesitant to use my Umbrella rigs which is rigged with small tiny hooks. Then by 9:30am, I was still fishless after sitting there for 1.5hrs. Finally, I gave in. Took out my Umbrella rig for bottom fishing & baited it. Send the rig out to a fishy looking area. Within 20mins, I landed a Tilapia. A small specimen of about 500g. Ok! I'm motivated now. No Pacu, no Patin, Tilapia also hentam lar!

So there I was, sitting all by my lonesome landing tilapia after tilapia. For the next 3 hours, I caught & landed 6 of sizes from 300g to 800g. While I was happily playing with tilapia, another group had a few strong takes resulting in much fanfare & commotion from their friends. Too bad, none of them were successfully landed as I believe these were inexperience anglers dealing with Pacu. They strike to hard, pump too hard & learn their lesson the hard way. One retiree however, successfully landed a 4kg Patin just 10m from where I was fishing. (Don't say no big fish arrr...) so I was again motivated to try Patin again but too bad, it was almost time for me to leave. Upon packing up, I had a short chat with the retiree, it seems the operator hasn't released any fishes for more than a year. It's a balance between keeping fees affordable and not spending too much on stocking fishes.

Campers who also enjoys fishing
Summary: Nice clean environment, nice scenery. Peaceful & serene but too bad, the fishing is slow. I would recommend this place for beginner anglers though as the fees is cheap & there are still a good population of tilapia. This is the perfect getaway for city folks to enjoy some nature & relaxing time.
