Kelong Fishing at Pulau Ketam

15th November 2012
Ikan Duri, some estuarine catfish
We did a follow up trip to Kelong Greenway recently. This trip was most disappointing as we had no exciting catches except for a handful of tiny Gelama & about a dozen Ikan Duri of 800 to 1kg. Water condition was murky with fast flowing current. Fishing was most difficult as we had to use heavy sinkers just to have our baits stay at the bottom.

Naughty little cat.

We consider this trip a failure but learned a valuable lesson. Never go fishing during strong currents & high tides. Waters would be muddy & the fishes gone.

5th November 2011
It was a weekday that we choose to make the trip to Kelong Greenway. 3 weeks planning & that was it. As usual, everything went wrong from Day 1 itself. We didn't plan out the travel route to Port Klang jetty so our journey took longer than expected. We even ended up at West Port instead of South Port. Finally, everyone was gathered at the Jetty so we got the ferry tickets waited for the ride. Even upon arrival at kelong, we only realized that the fishes love cockles, luckily, I brought some left over baits from an earlier fishing at Carey Island. The Gelama absolutely love our cockles. We ended up catching close to 70 Gelama, 1 Stingray, 2 Snappers & 1 Angel fish.
